ALAS Construct delivers playground surfacing and external works across schools, councils, childcare centres, parks and development projects throughout South East Queensland.
We’re looking for a hands-on Leading Hand / Site Supervisor to take ownership of our wet-pour rubber and synthetic grass crews.
This isn’t a role where you stand back with a clipboard. You’ll be leading the site, coordinating the crew and still getting involved in the work when required.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for helping drive the day-to-day delivery of surfacing projects, including:
- Running site pre-starts
- Organising the crew and daily activities
- Reading plans and set-out information
- Checking levels and falls
- Coordinating wet-pour rubber installation
- Mixing binders and rubber granules
- Screeding and hand finishing
- Maintaining required depths
- Working to critical fall-height requirements
- Synthetic grass base preparation
- Cutting and joining turf
- Finishing around playground equipment and edges
- Checking material deliveries
- Coordinating with project managers, clients and other trades
- Keeping the site safe and organised
- Monitoring programme and progress
- Maintaining tools and equipment
- Supporting and training less-experienced installers
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for a site.
You should be able to:
- Lead from the front
- Organise a small crew
- Solve problems as they arise
- Communicate clearly with clients and project teams
- Understand levels, set-out and finishes
- Maintain quality while keeping the project moving
- Take ownership of the completed result
Previous wet-pour rubber experience would be highly regarded, but it isn’t essential.
We’re also interested in strong leading hands or supervisors from areas such as:
- Epoxy flooring
- Decorative concrete
- Flooring
- Landscaping
- Commercial construction
- Civil works
The technical systems can be taught. Reliability, attitude and ownership matter just as much.
What You’ll Need
A current:
- Driver’s licence
- Construction White Card
Helpful experience or tickets include:
- Excavator operation
- Skid steer operation
- Machinery tickets
- Surfacing experience
- Synthetic grass installation
- Previous supervisory experience
There is regular travel around South East Queensland, and some project days may run 10–12 hours where the work requires it.
What We Offer
- Steady year-round work
- Strong rates for the right person
- Consistent playground and surfacing projects
- Hands-on responsibility
- Opportunities to progress into Site Supervisor and Project Manager positions
- A crew that takes pride in the finished product
- Support to develop further tickets and capability
ALAS already sees a genuine career path from installer through to leading hand, site supervisor and project manager, with progression based on attitude, reliability and quality of work rather than simply time served.
Lead the Job. Stay on the Tools.
If you like taking ownership, leading a crew and handing over work you’re genuinely proud of, this could be the right role for you.
